fhm via Getty ImagesThe French administration has verified that France Titres, referred to as Agence nationale des titres sécurisés (ANTS), fell victim to a cyber intrusion last week. France Titres revealed that it identified the security incident on April 15. Following this, a cybercriminal asserted involvement in the breach and stated they possess up to 19 million records which they are trying to market. Based on reports from Bleeping Computer, the stolen information has not yet been broadly distributed online.
France Titres oversees the issuance of national identification and registration documents, such as passports, driver’s licenses, national ID cards, and immigration papers. The leaked dataset contains personal details like full names, email addresses, dates of birth, account identifiers, login IDs, phone numbers, and mailing addresses. Officials noted that although the attackers did not gain entry to the agency’s secure portals, the exposed data could facilitate phishing campaigns or other fraudulent activities. The agency urged the public to remain vigilant against any suspicious messages purporting to originate from them.
