Focusing on math without interruptions, just as it used to be.
Texas InstrumentsTexas Instruments’ graphing calculators have long assisted students through algebra, pre-calculus, and even upside-down anatomical slang. Now, the company introduces the TI-84 Evo for today’s digital age. This updated model features a quicker processor, a fresh icon-driven home interface, and a reworked keypad.
TI positions this device as the calculator equivalent of the Light Phone. Designed to excel at a single task—math—this ‘distraction-free’ TI-84 Evo lacks the notifications, social media apps, and Wi-Fi connectivity found on calculator apps for phones or computers, helping users stay focused. (Of course, the classic ‘58008’ upside-down text remains for a good laugh.)
Texas InstrumentsThe updated model boasts a processor that is three times quicker than its predecessor, along with 50 percent more graphing area, a streamlined keypad, and USB-C charging. It also introduces a new tracing feature that allows users to follow a graph to locate specific points.
The TI-84 Evo is available now. Individual customers can pay $160. (School districts can contact the company for bulk pricing.) The calculator ships in a modern array of colors: white (the standard model), mint, pink, purple, teal, raspberry and silver.
