Noel Berry, who co-designed the hit indie title Celeste, has joined forces with his sibling Liam to develop a fresh venture titled City of None. This new 2D platformer builds upon the genre’s foundations by incorporating exploration and battle mechanics. The promotional footage evokes the atmospheric, insect-like aesthetic of Hollow Knight, utilizing a subdued palette and whimsical character designs. According to the Steam store page, City of None is slated for a 2027 launch, meaning players will need to wait a bit longer to experience the game.
The project will be published by Extremely OK Games, the studio founded by Noel Berry and Maddy Thorson. The company previously scrapped its own upcoming title, Earthblade. Despite the cancellation, the impressive roster of developers at EXOK makes this new endeavor promising, even though its release is still some time away.
