Microsoft has now provided all Xbox players with the ability to disable Quick Resume for individual titles. This capability, which was first trialed with Xbox Insiders in March, is now being deployed alongside a suite of additional console and PC app enhancements as part of the April Xbox update.

Quick Resume was a standout feature when the Xbox Series S and X debuted, allowing players to pause multiple games and resume them later without losing progress, even after powering down the console. However, certain titles that require a steady internet connection, such as MMOs, often struggled with this feature, causing players to be returned to the main menu or forced to restart. Now, with the new toggle option, users can prevent these frustrating interruptions for incompatible games.

In addition to Quick Resume, Microsoft is increasing the number of game groups that can be pinned to the home screen, allowing users to customize interface colors and simplifying access to play history. On the PC side, the Xbox app now supports using any gamepad to control the mouse cursor, pinning favorite titles to the “jump back in” or “most recent” menus, and adding any installed game or app to the library regardless of its source. These updates also include the rollout of Automatic Super Resolution testing on ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.

This shift toward more regular software updates reflects a strategic push under new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma to revitalize the Xbox brand and reassess its gaming direction. Among her recent initiatives is a reduction in Xbox Game Pass pricing, with the Ultimate tier dropping from $30 to $23 per month.
