Back in August, Fender introduced its $299 MIX wireless headphones. These over-ear headphones feature a swappable battery along with the FWD Tx USB-C wireless transmitter for high-quality, low-latency connectivity. Now, Fender MIX headphones have added an iPhone app to customize your listening experience.
The Fender Audio app for iPhone delivers EQ presets and a customizable five-band equalizer. It allows individual adjustments across low, low-mid, mid, high-mid, and high frequency ranges, giving users the ability to fine-tune audio to match their preferences right from their iPhone.
Additionally, the app includes a battery level indicator and customizable Home Screen widgets for fast access to device functions, such as EQ settings.
Regarding the hardware, the MIX headphones are equipped with 40mm graphene drivers, hybrid active noise cancellation, and Bluetooth 5.3. Battery performance is rated up to 52 hours with ANC on or 100 hours with ANC off.
The bundled USB-C transmitter offers multiple modes, including lossless audio up to 24-bit/96kHz, low-latency playback, and Auracast broadcasting to several compatible devices.
For wired listening, the headphones also support connections via USB-C or a 3.5mm audio cable.
During my testing, the MIX headphones delivered excellent sound quality with active noise cancellation activated. Switching to Ambient Sound, Fender’s transparency mode, felt like a noticeable drop in audio fidelity, particularly over Bluetooth without the transmitter.
I’m eager to experiment with the app’s EQ settings to further tailor the sound to my liking.
The USB-C transmitter fits securely behind an ear cup when not in use, and Bluetooth connectivity without the adapter works well when convenience takes priority over premium audio specs.
The Fender Audio app is now available on the App Store with support for Fender MIX headphones.
