Apple has increased prices across its product lineup over the past few months, but the iPhone had largely avoided these changes until now. That’s about to shift as Apple prepares to introduce its latest premium smartphones, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the newly anticipated foldable model, the iPhone Duo.
However, a recent report from Bloomberg suggests that the upcoming price hikes might not be as steep as some industry watchers had feared. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will see a $100 increase compared to their predecessors, bringing the starting price to $1199.
While rising memory component costs have driven price hikes globally across devices like Macs and iPads since June, the iPhone line had remained unaffected until this point. Many analysts predicted that the new 18-series models would finally reflect these cost pressures, and that appears to be the case.
Gurman confirms that the price bump will be $100, meaning Apple’s Pro-tier phones will surpass the long-standing $999 entry point. However, this increase falls short of the more aggressive predictions made earlier in the year, with some forecasters expecting jumps of up to $300.
In addition, Gurman notes that the upcoming foldable iPhone Duo will launch at a starting price of $1999, with higher-storage variants reaching around $3000. While clearly a premium offering, this pricing is still below many of the rumors circulating before the launch, which ranged anywhere from $2199 to $2499.
According to Gurman, Apple is trimming its usual profit margins on the iPhone Duo to keep it under the $2000 mark, making it more competitive with Android foldables priced as low as $1800. With strong demand expected, Apple hopes the $1999 price point will drive adoption.
