We’re only hours from Apple’s “Surprise and shine” special event, where the company is expected to unveil the foldable iPhone Duo, the iPhone 18 Pro, new Apple Watch models, and AirPods 5.
Pre-order schedule
Earlier, we reported that pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo could start on September 12, one day later than usual because of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
In a social media post today, trusted leaker ShrimpApplePro said pre-orders will begin on September 12 “at the usual time,” implying 5 a.m. PT/8 a.m. ET.
iPhone 18 Pro details
In a major overnight report, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman outlined more information about the iPhone 18 Pro:
– The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to feature a mechanical aperture, and it may not be offered on the standard iPhone 18 Pro.
– A redesigned vapor chamber
– A “smaller and improved” Dynamic Island that can display up to three Live Activities, rather than two
Separately, developer Pdfu posted code evidence suggesting the iPhone 18 Pro could charge up to 33% faster than the iPhone 17 Pro models.
AirPods 5
Gurman also provided more details about the AirPods 5, which are expected to be introduced today. The report says the earbuds will “come in versions with and without a wireless charging case and include dramatically improved noise cancellation.”
The Bloomberg report also said Apple had intended to announce AirPods with cameras at this event, but that launch has been pushed back to next year.
iPhone Duo details
Along with reporting the iPhone Duo, Bloomberg shared additional specifications:
– Apple Pencil support
– Side-by-side apps with “iPad-like multitasking”
– White and dark blue color options
– A starting price of $2,000, with sales “as early as October”
