Nearly a year ago, Apple TV was preparing to debut its new Jessica Chastain-led series The Savant, but the show was abruptly removed from the schedule following the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.
Apple did not provide a specific explanation for scrapping the release, though it said the series would become available at a later date.
At that time, Chastain publicly stated that she was “not aligned” with the company’s decision to postpone the premiere.
Now, almost a year later, The Savant remains unreleased. Its listing in the Apple TV app still says “coming at a later date” and displays an awkwardly outdated 2025 label.
Variety now reports, however, that the streaming service has restored the show to its lineup and scheduled it for release in spring 2027.
A spring debut would position the series for consideration in the next Emmy Awards season, meaning Apple would likely need to air every episode before the May 31, 2027 cutoff.
Apple could still postpone the release again as spring approaches. Regardless of Chastain’s views on the handling of The Savant, she has continued collaborating with Apple on other forthcoming projects, including The Dealer opposite Adam Driver and The Off Weeks alongside Ben Stiller.
