Even if you weren’t closely following Apple in 2010, you’ve likely heard of Antennagate and the last‑minute press conference that summoned Steve Jobs from a Hawaiian vacation.
If you’re just joining us, here’s what transpired: shortly after Apple launched the iPhone 4, users observed that the cellular signal would drop noticeably based on how they held the phone.
The uproar was significant enough for Apple to call an emergency event just weeks after the iPhone 4 went on sale.
During the event, Jobs clarified that the signal loss wasn’t limited to the iPhone 4, offering users the option of a free case to avoid direct hand contact with the antenna or a full refund by returning the phone.
