Subscribers to Apple TV can now stream “Matchbox The Movie,” a new high‑octane comedy on the service inspired by the classic Mattel toys. Check out the trailer above.

In recent weeks, most Apple TV viewers will have caught the trailer—perhaps even just the opening seconds—for “Matchbox The Movie.”
The cast includes John Cena (Heads of State), Jessica Biel (The Illusionist), Arturo Castro (Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice), Sam Richardson (Veep), and Corey Stoll (Midnight in Paris), among others. A special screening took place in Mexico City earlier this month, preceding its worldwide launch on October 5.
The title expands Apple TV’s expanding library of action titles, which now features “The Gorge,” “Wolfs,” “Ghosted,” “The Family Plan,” and the more recent “Mayday.”
Apple TV provides this plot summary: Drawing on the beloved Mattel toys, “Matchbox The Movie” follows childhood friends whose lives are turned upside down when CIA operative Sean (John Cena), a long‑lost former leader, reappears in their small town and unintentionally pulls them into a high‑stakes global chase to rescue the planet.
Inspired by the iconic Mattel toys, “Matchbox The Movie” is an action-packed, globe-trotting adventure about a group of friends since childhood who have their lives upended when undercover CIA agent Sean (John Cena), their long-absent former leader, returns to their small town and unwittingly gets them embroiled in a frantic international pursuit to save the world.
