The entry-level iPad mini currently retails at $599 for the 128 GB version. Apple is preparing to launch the next‑gen iPad mini later this month; although the base storage could go up, shoppers should anticipate a higher price.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, sources indicate the upcoming iPad mini will be “considerably more expensive,” with a price hovering near $799.
If that proves accurate, the increase would be about $200 over today’s base model, placing it above the starting price of the 11‑inch iPad Air in the current lineup.

One more argument for offering a far cheaper iPad mini variant.
I don’t understand why: users seeking a mid‑to‑high‑end iPad already have the iPad Air and iPad Pro, while the low‑end segment is served only by the standard iPad 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️.
Considering that, it seems odd that the new mini would cost as much as a MacBook Neo.
Apple will likely contend that the extra cost delivers more value. The forthcoming iPad mini is slated to debut an OLED screen for the first time, accompanied by a redesigned chassis with slimmer bezels.
The device will also receive an upgraded speaker array and a substantially more powerful processor. We expect it to run on the A20 Pro chip, the same silicon powering Apple’s premium iPhone 18 Pro models.
It remains uncertain whether the OLED panel in the new iPad mini will match the performance of the iPad Pro’s industry‑leading tandem OLED display. Reports are split on whether it will support a 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate.
The new iPad mini is expected to be unveiled at a media event later this month, alongside the upcoming OLED MacBook Pros. Prior to that, on Tuesday, Apple will hold a “Welcome home” presentation to reveal its new smart‑home strategy, including its inaugural smart‑home display.
