Apple has officially announced its next product event, where it will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and its first foldable iPhone. The event will take place on September 9 at 10 am, PT. The tagline reads “Surprise and shine,” and the invitation features a glowing Apple logo with a sun shining through.
What to expect from Apple’s September event
Apple is expected to announce three new iPhones:
- iPhone 18 Pro
- iPhone 18 Pro Max
- Apple’s first foldable iPhone, rumored to be called iPhone Ultra
This year, a standard iPhone model isn’t expected to be part of Apple’s fall lineup. Apple is reportedly splitting its annual iPhone launch, with iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 following in spring 2027.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to retain the same general designs and display sizes as their predecessors. Instead, this year’s upgrades will focus on new display, camera, and connectivity technology.
Rumors point to three main upgrades: a variable-aperture Main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, and Apple’s C2 cellular modem.
Apple may offer the new Pro phones in four colors: dark cherry, black, silver, and light blue.
Apple’s first foldable display product: iPhone Ultra
The biggest announcement, however, will be Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Rumored to be called iPhone Ultra, the device is expected to use a book-style design with an outer display measuring between 5.3 and 5.5 inches and an inner display measuring between 7.6 and 7.8 inches.
The foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a titanium frame, an ultra-thin design, and a virtually crease-free display.
It may use Touch ID integrated into the power button instead of Face ID, alongside two front-facing cameras and a dual-camera system on the back.
This will almost certainly be Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet. Most estimates point to a starting price around $1,999, although some reports have suggested configurations could reach $2,500.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 upgrades also expected
We also expect to see two updated Apple Watch models:
- Apple Watch Series 12
- Apple Watch Ultra 4
Neither watch is expected to receive a major redesign. Instead, Apple will reportedly focus on new processors and health upgrades. A new Apple Watch SE is not currently expected.
We do expect AirPods 5, although AirPods Pro with Visual Intelligence are expected next year at the soonest. Apple also recently announced new Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop hardware set for release on September 22.
This will also mark a new era for Apple leadership. John Ternus will take over as Apple CEO on September 1, with Tim Cook moving to the role of executive chairman.
We’ll see all that and more at Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone event in September.
How to watch the iPhone 18 Pro event
Apple will stream the presentation on apple.com, YouTube, and the Apple TV app. The video is expected to be prerecorded, with members of the press attending at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
As always, 9to5Mac will bring you every detail from the event as soon as news breaks. Stay tuned in the meantime as we continue to learn more about Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro lineup and its first foldable iPhone.
9to5Mac Editor-in-chief Chance Miller will be in attendance.
