iPhone Duo is approximately two weeks from release, and according to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple has significant retail plans for its inaugural foldable iPhone to ensure customers experience it fully. Apple is gearing up for a major launch with the iPhone Duo, and while the event itself isn’t surprising, the extent of preparation aimed at a smooth rollout is notable.

The company is preparing a major retail push, with a huge number of demo units at its flagship stores. The Fifth Avenue location in New York City is expected to have more than 150 units across hands-on demo stations and in-store fixtures.

The Apple Park Visitor Center at the company’s home base, meanwhile, will have nearly 100. Other locations, including Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the Grove in Los Angeles and the Upper West Side in Manhattan, will each have roughly 30 to 40 units.

Other prominent stores, including Michigan Avenue in Chicago, The Grove in Los Angeles, and the Upper West Side in Manhattan, will each host roughly 30 to 40 units. Even smaller stores will have around 20 units, which is still above typical given the device will only launch in two colors.

Given the difficulty of purchasing a Duo at launch, offering numerous hands-on demos simultaneously seems practical. Beyond unit quantity, Apple has designed a new MagSafe stand capable of holding an unfolded iPhone Duo alongside two standard iPhones, likely the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Some demo units will be placed without security tethers along store sides, allowing users to test StandBy mode and other features. Additionally, Apple is installing new fixtures that showcase the iPhone Duo opening and closing, making them impossible to miss upon entering a store.

Overall, iPhone Duo will take center stage in Apple Stores following its October 23 launch. Due to limited availability, interested buyers should be ready to preorder on October 16.
