As the iPhone Duo launch nears, Apple has begun accepting submissions of iPhone Duo-ready apps and games developed with Xcode 27.1. Here’s what you need to know.
Starting April 2027, App Store Connect will mandate iPhone Duo screenshots for all new app submissions.
In recent weeks, Apple has rolled out Xcode 27.1 betas featuring tools for creating and testing apps designed specifically for iPhone Duo. Today marks the release of Xcode 27.1 Release Candidate 1, now available for download [here](https://developer.apple.com/download/all/).
Earlier this evening, Apple shared an update via its Developer News Hub announcing that developers can now upload iPhone Duo-optimized apps and games through App Store Connect:
> “When building or rebuilding your app with Xcode 27.1, your App Store product page will automatically display a badge indicating optimization for iPhone Duo.”
Crucially, Apple noted that any apps or games submitted to App Store Connect after April 2027 must include screenshots tailored for iPhone Duo.
The company also emphasized that updating existing apps with Xcode 27.1 introduces native development support for iPhone Duo, enabling developers to leverage Device Hub for previewing how their apps perform across various device configurations and screen orientations.
