Proton confirms a widespread outage impacting Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Lumo and additional services. Details follow.
Efforts to fix the problem
Earlier this evening, Proton’s status page indicated major outages affecting:
– Proton Mail
– Proton VPN
– Proton Calendar
– Proton Drive
– Proton Pass
– SimpleLogin
“Our efforts to restore impacted services are now yielding results, and as a result are starting to recover for some users. Meanwhile, we are continuing recovery operations.”

– Lumo by Proton
After initial investigation and mitigation, the company now labels the problems as partial outages. An update posted at 7:37 p.m. ET reads:
“Our restoration efforts are beginning to show results, with some users seeing service return. We continue to work on full recovery.”
The outage was first reported at 6:09 p.m. ET when Downdetector activity rose. Users on X also flagged the problem, leading Proton to comment:
“We are monitoring the situation and will update this post as new information arrives or once the issues are marked resolved.”
