WhatsApp could soon enable iPhone users to add a third account

After recently allowing iPhone owners to add a second account within the same app, WhatsApp is now developing support for up to three accounts. Here’s what’s known. WhatsApp may soon handle three accounts. In June last year, WhatsApp launched multi‑account functionality for iPhone, letting users add a second profile to the main application. That rollout followed several months of beta testing, offering an alternative to using WhatsApp Business as a workaround for a second account. According to WABetaInfo, the company is now testing an extension that would let users toggle between as many as three accounts without signing out. From WABetaInfo: The accompanying screenshot displays the account picker when multi‑account support is expanded to three profiles. On the left, the option to add a second account appears at the bottom of the screen; on the right, the view after logging into a third profile is shown. The design remains unchanged, listing each account’s name, profile picture and phone number, with a green check‑mark indicating the active one. When the feature rolls out, the “Add account” button will stay visible even if two accounts are already active in the app. WhatsApp hinted that it might eventually support more than three accounts. The report notes that each account retains its own chat history, notifications, privacy settings, backups and media. WABetaInfo adds that while two profiles suit many users, the ability to manage three could be useful for people juggling work and personal numbers. Because the feature is still in development and not yet offered to beta testers, a broader release may be some time away. To read WABetaInfo’s full report, follow this link.
